This is a lightweight drop spindle with a couple of extra nifty little features!

• Adjustable Whorl Height - 5 different height settings!
Do you ever wish your fixed height spindle just... Wasn't?
Ever wonder what a mid-whorl spindle feels like to spin with?
Ever change your mind halfway through spinning and decide you wanted to use a bottom-weighted spindle all along?
With the Spinning Sparrow, you can! Just untwist its beak/peg a little (not advisable on a real life sparrow), slide the whorl up or down to your preferred setting, twist to tighten the beak/peg again and keep spinning on your now-empty whorl!

• Make a Plying Ball as you go!
A Plying ball is a ball of spun fibre where both ends can be pulled from for plying from. Also sometimes called a centre-pull ball.
No more eyeballing whether you have the same amount of spun fibre on two different spindles for plying.
No more time-consuming unwinding step - just remove your spun fibre off the tail end of the whorl.
Plying balls can be stored for use later if needed. Easy removal means you can keep spinning straight away.

• Collapsible and Compact
If you like to spin while out and about, this is a fantastic spindle. The whorl can be removed from the shaft without losing the fibre stored on it (just don't twist the beak/peg all the way out when removing the whorl). No need to worry about an awkwardly shaped spindle breaking in your bag. Disassembled, it's the perfect size to pop in a pencil case for travel.

I am a MASSIVE fan of plying balls and cutting out steps when crafting, so I designed this little guy!

It is inspired by Turkish drop spindles, but I wanted to see if I could create something that could work similarly but be top weighted (I like to 'rev' my drop spindles against my leg, very awkward for bottom weighted spindles!).
I added in a hook and the ability to change the whorl height and thus the Spinning Sparrow was hatched!

The Spinning Sparrow is designed, 3D modelled, printed and hand finished by me using Bambu PLA filament on a Bambu Lab P1S printer in my home.
