a colourful drop spindle with a bird shaped whorl, yellow beak-shaped peg and pink shaft with silver hook on the end. Text reads spinning sparrow by song spinner

Now Available!

The Spinning Sparrow is a drop spindle with a twist (heh) - namely, you can create a plying ball on it AND adjust the whorl height on the fly😉
The perfect does-it-all spindle!

Terrible bird puns and shameless alliteration at no extra cost!

Show me this strange bird-shaped spindle, now!

What I do

Every now and again I run into a textile craft-related problem that I can solve or a neat idea I can make real via the medium of 3D modelling and printing.

With the help of valued co-workers Bert and Betty (my two Bambu Labs P1S 3D printers), I bring my ideas to life. Usually in bright, fun colours, too! I print using Bambu Labs PLA filament or Polymaker Panchroma PLA (with the exception of wood effect products, for which I use Elegoo PLA+)

Everything you see on this site is fully designed, 3D modelled, 3D printed, hand finished and lovingly packaged by my own fair hands*

Absolutely ZERO AI has ever been or will ever be used in the creation of anything I make. Ever.

Some tools require a fair amount of work regarding hand-finishing once they come off the printer since some prints can look a little rough around the edges until they are smoothed out a little by hand.

This takes the form of sanding, buffing, deburring, dremelling, gluing, painting and varnishing. This means that there may be very minor visual imperfections and no two items will look exactly alike, such is the nature of hand-finishing by a human.

Allergy advice
Items described as 'lacquered' are either lacquered with Soft-Touch Varnish DecoArt Media or Plastikote Clear Enamel (depending on the finish required). They are both hard-wearing water-based varnishes.
Some of my items are glued using T-8000 glue.
If any of the above may cause allergy issues for you, please contact me using the contact form and we will figure out together how best to create your tool and keep you safe.
*with the obvious exception of nuts, bolts, latch hooks, spindle hooks, crochet hooks... Basically, all the metal bits. I have too many hobbies and too little space to even consider taking up metalwork in order to make those bits. The 3D printed parts are all me though!
