Meet the Maker
Hello! My name is Freya and I design, 3D print and decorate/hand finish niche textile tools from my home studio based in South Yorkshire, UK.
I have always loved textile crafting. I learned to sew, knit and weave as a child, then during the pandemic I branched out into pretty much every textile hobby out there. Turns out, learning to crochet is a slippery slope that leads to owning multiple spinning wheels - who knew?!
I also got a 3D printer and learned to digitally model things to print on it. Upon repeatedly losing the proprietary bobbins for my tatting shuttles I decided that I’d make my own shuttles that worked with easily-replaceable and cheaper sewing machine bobbins. From then on I’ve continued in much the same way, solving my own textile crafting problems one print at a time.
When I’m not working in my studio on new designs and orders I am usually either doing some sort of obscure textile craft while watching a historical drama, playing video games or Magic: The Gathering with my husband or being pestered by our two cats, Seymour and Lulu.
I am also a working musician and music teacher and record and release music under the artist name Freya Catherine.
